History of Mercedes-Benz 350 SL & SLC
Model 350 SL was designed to supplant the famous Pagoda-rooftop SL. The new 350 SL was bigger, heavier and more luxurious since it was upgraded with an eye on advertising in the USA.
First time the car was introduced in 1971 with the model code R107. It contained an eight-cylinder engine V8 with a capacity of 3.5 and a manual 4-speed gearbox, but the discretionary 4-speed car was the best solution.
The engine was equipped with an innovation - a modern design of the suspension 200 cantina, which used loop springs along these lines, getting rid of the infamous swing-pivot setup, which was in previous SL. Today, the 3.5-liter SL series, especially with a manual gearbox, is unusual and popular with the oldtimer's lovers.
